ERIC SMITH

When I met Eric Smith in October 2006, he expressed his goal was to lose weight and improve his overall health. Eric said that he used to be an active individual, but as time raced by he lost his motivation to exercise and make the best nutritional choices.

I told Eric the truth and said that weight-loss would only occur if he made a serious commitment in making a lifestyle change. This change would take place by creating a food & exercise journal documenting his daily actions. Most people don't plan to fail, they fail to plan. If he kept an accurate journal then we could review it weekly to track his progress. I also advised he needed to begin reading food labels & counting calories. He said he was game and would begin.

Well as with most things in life, things take time to sink in. Eric sputtered initially for the first 2-3 weeks. His first weigh in took place around 3 weeks into training in which he registered 314.2lbs and 53% body-fat. The look on his face was disbelief, but also determination that he was going to do it for nothing else than to reclaim his life back.

Well the journey began with Eric making changes to his nutrition, and incorporating those changes into his busy work schedule. Next involved our training which was initially once a week. It didn't take long (@3 weeks) before Eric realized he wanted to be pushed like a pro athlete twice a week. His workouts consisted of a balance of cardio and strength training for one-hour. The format was back-to-back exercises with minimal breaks and non-traditional methods of muscular development. Eric progressed from walking on the treadmill to running. Once his stamina and confidence has risen to 20 minutes of non-stop running on the treadmill, he and I hit the streets! Next, Eric had to increase his workouts outside of me. This meant he would have to workout on his own for a minimum of 2-3 days for 60-90 minutes.

Meanwhile, Eric embodied our slogan of "168 hours in a week, make time not excuses." He prepared his meals/snacks daily, increased his water intake, drastically reduced the food choices which were high in calories/fat, and ate every 2 1/2 to 3 hours in order to keep his metabolism up!

One of the best observations throughout this whole journey has been not only watching a man change his life, change his body, improve his health, improve his self-confidence, but it has been watching him educate others on how simple this process was (and is). If you truly take the time to educate yourself on weight loss and nutrition, combine that with a solid committment through your actions to change your body and life, great things will happen.

Eric's journey is not over, and he has shattered his old goal of achieving 235lbs by June. Now he is passionate and private about his new goal, so stay tuned as we continue to ride along with Eric on his path towards a healthier life. As of November 7, 2007 Eric Smith currently weighs 204.2lbs and is 20.8% body-fat!!! That's an incredible 110.0 lbs lost and 32.2% body-fat reduction!!!

UPDATE!!! As of September 18, 2009 I AM VERY PROUD to report that Eric Smith has continued to keep the weight and body-fat OFF! He has remained settled in near a set point of between 201-205lbs an body-fat of 12-15%. Exercise is a staple in his life, and he has inspired many in his workplace and around him. Eric is the "Poster Child" at his workplace of being "FIT". However, he has more importantly shown through planning, hard work, and consistency ANYONE can make the changes in themselves without resorting to the many fad diets and supplements in order to lose weight. In the end there was no surgery needed for him to achieve his goals, just old fashion sacrifice and having a work ethic! We are very proud of the changes he's made and how is able to get more out of life because of them. Thank you Eric for letting us be apart of your journey, and we wish you continued success!

Be sure to stay tuned as we continue to report about Eric's journey, post updated pictures, and document other clients as they make their journey to getmoorefit!
